A late 19th Century Mexican coconut 'bugbear' money bank with finely carved relief decoration, one end with a mask and inset with glass eyes and bone teeth (half missing), the other side with a bust portrait of Porfirio Díaz, the sides with four oval panels filled with various scenes, including an elephant with handler, a female dancer and an escaped convict, length approx 10.8cm. Note: José de la Cruz Porfirio Díaz Mori (1830-1915), was a Mexican soldier and politician, who served seven terms as President of Mexico.
