A pair of Japanese shibayama inlaid ivory tusk vases and wood stands, Meiji period, each tusk finely inlaid in mother-of-pearl and other hardstones, one with a lantern hanging from a blossoming prunus branch opposing flowers and insects, the other with a flower basket hanging from a blossoming prunus branch, opposing flowers and insects, both with inlaid red lacquer signature plaque, each wood stand with carved and pierced decoration, on four scroll legs united by a stretcher base, total height approx 32.5cm (one tusk with crack to base and very minor losses).
