A Japanese Satsuma earthenware jar and cover by Gyokusan, Meiji period, of diminutive stout ovoid form, the body painted with a group of seven figures within a gilt frame, reserved against a ground of boys seated in bamboo rafts, within simulated brocade borders, repeated on the domed cover, indistinct gilt signature to base, height approx 9.5cm.
