An unusual Wemyss pottery cat, early 20th Century, seated upright with a smiling smug expression, facing left, painted with a tied pink ribbon to its neck and scattered gilt detail on an off white glaze, inset with olive green glass eyes, unmarked, height approx 33cm (restoration to front right leg). Provenance: lot 320, Sotheby's Gleneagles, 27 August 2002. Note: a similar example is illustrated by V. de Rin, D. Macmillan, R. Rankine and P. Davis 'Wemyss Ware', p.63, pl.32. Also another example was sold lot 627, Sotheby's Gleneagles, 1 September 1998.
