A rare Wemyss pottery Japan vase, early 20th Century, painted by James Sharp, the shouldered cylindrical body with green dentil detail to the gently flared neck, decorated with pink and yellow tulips and green leaves with yellow detail, one open flower applied with three petals in relief, impressed factory marks to base and with yellow painted script mark, height approx 33cm (some restoration to applied relief detail). Provenance: lot 300, Sotheby's Gleneagles, 30 August 2005; Rogers de Rin, London; The Iris Fox Collection, lot 283, Sotheby's Edinburgh, 7 November 1994. Note: this vase is interesting due to the relief detail. It was exhibited at the Christie's 1990 Glasgow Exhibition, 'Wemyss Ware, Fife flowers, Fruits and Farmyards', No. 42.
