LOT 2901
A late 17th Century fine needlepoint, raised work and appliqué panel with a design of a gentleman and lady with a young boy, emblematic of James I and Anne of Denmark with the future Charles I, within a stylized landscape, to the left of the group a lady kneeling in prayer with an angel in the clouds above, a reference to the visitation of the Virgin, to the right a mother and child, a palace beyond, in the foreground a river landscape with basking whales flanked by the lion and unicorn, worked in a variety of stitches in gilt, silk and chenille on a cream satin ground, approx 30cm x 42cm, within a larger silk mount and Hogarth section frame.
