A Chinese Export porcelain bulb pot in the form of a French Louis XV bombé commode, Qianlong period, the serpentine front moulded with two short and two long drawers with gilt detail, the sides with puce landscape and flower vignettes, all reserved against a blue 'cracked ice' ground, the top with five circular apertures, height 12.5cm, width 21.5cm (wear to gilt and enamels). Note: a pair of similar form pots and covers with detailed discussion is illustrated by William R. Sargeant in 'The Copeland Collection: Chinese and Japanese Ceramic Figures', The Peabody Museum of Salem, 1991, pages 226 and 227. A similar bulb pot can be found in the Detroit Institute of Arts Collection, No. F1985.102.
