SUSSEX. 'Brightonian' Cartoons of Local Celebrities and Local Events. [Brighton: 1883-1884.] Folio (367 x 245mm.) 76 black and white lithographed caricatures of local dignitaries and officials, 2pp. 'Index To Cartoons'. (Browning and spotting to first and last leaves.) Near contemporary green buckram, gilt lettering to upper cover (wear to spine ends, rubbed). Note: the 'Brightonian' was a weekly Brighton newspaper that had an unnamed caricature of a local official in every edition. They were mostly drawn by 'Sea Salt'.

BENSON, A.C. and Lawrence WEAVER and E.V. LUCAS (editors). The Book of the Queen's Dolls' House. London: Methuen & Co., 1924. 2 vols., limited to 1500 copies, inscribed by Queen Mary to Queen Helen of Greece and Denmark, 4to (251 x 193mm.) 92 plates, some in colour, duplicate paper spine labels tipped-in at the end of each volume, loosely inserted portrait card signed 'Aunt Mary, 1948'. (Mild toning.) Original cloth-backed boards with Mary's gilt monogram to upper covers (front hinge weakened to vol. 1). Note: the inscription reads 'For dear Sitta from Aunt Mary, Christmas 1933'. Provenance: Queen Mary (gift inscribed from her to Queen Helen in ink on the front-free endpaper); Queen Helen (gift inscribed to and name-plates on the front pastedowns). - And a further related item also owned by Queen Helen and housed in specially made vellum portfolios (Louisa F. MEXICO. - Antonio ARIAS BERNAL. Album Historico La II Guerra Mundial. Mexico: [N.p.: n.d. but circa 1945.] Folio (389 x 290mm.) 56 loose satirical colour plates. (Toning, five plates with adhesive to corners.) Original portfolio boards with ties (scuffed, some rubbing). Note: Mexican cartoonist Arias Bernal was known for ridiculing political leaders so in 1942 the U.S. government invited him to Washington and commissioned him to create editorial cartoons to promote the Allied war effort. - And a further illustrated volume ('Omar, volume 1, number 1, a Quarterly Collection of the Drawings of David Omar White', 1967, folio) (2).

(Name inscribed in most volumes up until 1965, and not inscribed from 1966 onwards, and not inscribed in volumes 1937, 1955, 1959, 1961 and 1963, price-clipped in only seven volumes, being 1948, 1957-1959, 1963, 1966 and 1971, some colouring done in only 5 volumes, being 1940(?), 1943, 1955, 1957 and 1960, and the 'Magic Painting' is neatly or partially done in most copies between 1960-1968 but not done in 1966 and 1968, occasional spotting and browning.) Original red cloth (4), pictorial card covers (8), or pictorial boards (75) (inner hinge of '1936' weakened and dust-soiling to upper cover, lower part of spine panel of '1942' and '1944' missing, earlier volumes rubbed to extremities), dust-jacket for the 70th anniversary edition.
