(Lower outer corner of title torn away, final text leaf creased, occasional old damp staining, small marginal tears, creasing or spotting.) Contemporary calf, spine gilt (rubbed, scuffed and bumped, free endpapers creased or torn). - And one other ('The Holy Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments'. Oxford: printed by John Baskett, 1739, large folio, a few leaves torn with loss, some damp-staining, binding defective) (2).

Wood-engraved additional titles and illustrations after Harvey. (Some spotting at the beginning and end of each volume.) Later red half-morocco, probably by James S. North, spines gilt, (spines very slightly faded). Provenance: James S. North (bookplate from a design by C. Haldane Macfall dated 1901, by descent); J.J. NORTH, James Sharp (binder). - Miguel de CERVANTES Saavedra. …Adventures of Don Quixote… with fifteen etchings on steel by George Cruikshank. London & New York: 1885. Limited edition of 50 copies containing 'an extra set of the Etchings on India Paper', this copy numbered 24, 8vo (218 x 136mm.) Title in red and black, 12 etched plates, with a duplicate set of 12 plates on india paper mounted. (Spotted.) Contemporary green morocco gilt by J.S. North, Brighton, covers elaborately decorated in gilt with a Derome-esque design built up from small tools within a ruled border, spine in six compartments with raised bands, titled in the second compartments, the others tooled in gilt with a repeat design, gilt decorated turn-ins with brown leather onlaid cornerpieces, red calf doublures with a design in the aesthetic style built up from rules and small frond tools, red cloth free-endpapers, g.e. Provenance: probably J.S. North (by descent); J.J. North.

Numerous half-tone plates, extra-illustrated with the 'originals' from which the half-tone blocks were made (these 'originals' include watercolours, photographs and blocks reprinted from earlier works, etc.), together with related press-cuttings and two related letters from Queen Mary's household. Contemporary red half-morocco over batiked paper-covered boards. Provenance: J.S. North (by descent); J.J. North. Note: a unique co-author's extra-illustrated copy, the charming 'naïve' watercolours seem to have been by the author's son Dudley North (according to the foreword).
