A Victorian satinwood cheveret or vide poche, after a design and possibly by Gillows of Lancaster, the removable top fitted with an overhead handle above five drawers, the base with a single frieze drawer enclosing a leather inset sliding writing surface, one side fitted with a secret compartment, raised on square tapering legs united by a shaped undertier, terminating in brass caps and castors, height 117cm, width 58cm, depth 45cm.
