The Abbey Building Society - who were working from that address at the time- allowed Michael Hall to use it as the address for his new magazine on the basis that he answered all the mail that arrived for Sherlock Holmes, something that a Building Society employee, the worthy Samuel W.G. Morton, had been doing until that time (125).
