A very near pair of mid-19th century Smith's terrestrial and celestial table-top library globes, the terrestrial globe 'containing the whole of the latest discoveries and geographical improvements... 1850', the celestial globe 'containing all the known stars, nebulae & c. Compiled from the works of Wollaston, Flamsted, de la Caille, Haveltt's, Mayer, Bradley, Herschel, Maskelyne The Transations of the Astronomical Society', globes diameter 29cm, both raised on turned walnut legs united by 'X' framed stretchers, height 47cm, width 42cm.
