LOT 765
A late 19th century Indian gold and enamelled Kavach Vishnupada pendant necklace, the front hung with five gold lobed palmette pendants, each finely enamelled with the feet of Vishnu, the similarly enamelled reverse with inscription 'Sita Ram Ji', each hung with gem set drops above a pearl and bead fringe, all suspended from a gilt wire cord, length of principal pendant 5.5cm, width of front panel 16.3cm, within original fitted leather case, detailed 'R & S Garrard & Co, Goldsmiths & Jewellers To The Crown 25, Haymarket London', width of case 21cm. Note: pendants and necklaces such as this were often worn by Hindu pilgrims or devotees to the Shrinathji Temple at Nathdwara at Rajastan.
