A Rolex Prince Observatory 9ct gold rectangular cased gentleman's wristwatch, Ref. 1490, with signed and jewelled 1087 caliber movement, the signed silvered dial with black Arabic hour markers, inner minute track and subsidiary seconds, the rectangular case with snap-on back, numbered '30276' over '1490' and detailed with Rolex crown, the inner case numbered '276', import mark Glasgow 1937, case width 2.4cm, case length 4.3cm, on a black leather strap. Provenance: formerly the property of Sir William Thomas Griffith (1895-1952), who was the former President of the Institute of Metals.
