LOT 1092
An early 18th century gilt fusee pocket watch movement with verge escapement and square baluster pillars, the finely pierced and engraved gilt balance cock decorated with scallop shell and foliate scrolls, the backplate signed 'Windmill London', the later enamelled dial with black Roman hour numerals, diameter 4.2cm. Note: Joseph Windmills (circa 1640-1724) was an eminent London clock and watchmaker who, with his son Thomas, produced outstanding timepieces between 1671 and 1737.
