A group of three extremely rare Central Bank of the Philippines partial stage banknote die proof engraver's test strikes, colour trials, comprising full obverse one peso note in purple with underlying red and green with portrait vignette of Apolinario Mabini to left side and 'Central Bank of the Philippines 1949' seal to right side, some printer's marks in pencil to margin, a partial die proof of the same note in black, showing the left hand side with portrait now named 'Mabini' below, and another die proof portrait vignette of Mabini in black (all very fine/extremely fine, some handling marks). Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
