Two rare Bank Markazi Iran banknote die proof engraver's test strike stages, probably for a larger denomination note, with central device 'Central Bank of Iran' in Persian script over a fine background below portrait vignette of Mohammad Rez Shah Pahlavi in Imperial Iranian Army uniform to centre (both extremely fine, some light handling marks, each on different grade of paper). Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
