A rare brass bound mahogany cased Tates Arithmometer, circa 1900, detailed 'Sole Agents C & E Layton London', with hand turned mechanism, two cranks and original brass plates, the stepped-drum arithmometer for all four basic arithmetic operations with 8-input sliders, 9-digit revolution counter and 16-digit results mechanism, the rectangular brass bound mahogany case with handles to sides, length 62cm (section of base panel replaced).
