An early Victorian mahogany cased bracket clock, the eight day twin fusee movement striking hours on a bell with pull repeat mechanism, the backplate engraved 'Jn B Cross London', the 8-inch circular painted dial with black Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'John B. Cross London', the case with arched top and applied foliate mouldings above pierced gilt brass fret panels to sides, on a cushion base, rectangular plinth and bun feet, height 48cm, with pendulum, winder and case keys. Note: John Berryhill Cross is a recorded London clockmaker, born in 1805 and working from his Cornhill address between 1839 and 1863.
