LOT 1220
An early 19th century brown patinated and gilt bronze mantel timepiece with eight day single chain fusee movement, the plate signed 'F. Baetens 23 Gerrard St London', the circular white enamelled dial with black Roman hour numerals, the drum case with gilt oak wreath surmount above gilt surround and scroll supports, the brown patinated rectangular plinth with applied gilt swag, on ball feet, height 19cm, with pendulum and winding key. Note: several timepieces of similar form, sharing the same castings, are known signed by either F. Baetens, Joseph van Baetens or Baetens. The Baeten family were a firm of bronziers who also produced timepieces.
