ILLUMINATED LEAF. – [NERIO.] [An early 14th century leaf from an Antiphonary, in Latin, from Bologna, Italy.] Single leaf (548 x 371mm.) A large vari-coloured historiated initial for the Common of Many Martyrs, one small decorative initial verso, staves in red and black. (Browned to right edge, some loss to vellum on black lettering of first text-line). Note: probably illuminated by Nerio, or someone in his immediate circle. With thanks to Peter Kidd for his assistance in cataloguing this lot.
