On the back of the portrait Williamson has written: ‘FACTS, Please. This Portrait of my dog BILLJOHN was painted by Mrs. F.T. Nicholson (Royal Academy Exhibition for many years) for Lieut. H. Williamson 1st Bedfordshire Regt, during the great WAR. It was done as a souvenir, for he was ordered to INDIA.
