Schwartz writes with passionate feeling and fervour of their liaison and hopes that it will continue in the future, ‘Goodbye? Nonsense, Monica. Surely we’ll meet again. Surely the split-second of loveliness given to us must be matched by another and another’. He mentions his professional work at length, with reference to his long-term collaborator Howard Dietz and a song recently released: ‘She loves me not’.
