A mid-20th century military side drum, painted with the badge of the 3rd Royal Anglian Regiment and later sympathetically converted to a coffee table and applied with a plaque engraved 'Presented to B/M F. Cockcroft on his retirement', diameter of glass top 56cm. Provenance: Bandmaster (WO1) Frank Cockcroft began his service in 1946 when he enlisted with the Royal Armoured Corps, then transferred to the Royal Anglian Regiment. There he began as a band boy and worked to eventually become Bandmaster. In 1964 he conducted the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Frank retired in 1968 and subsequently died in 2002.
