A fine Victorian 1831 pattern general officer's mameluke sabre by Hubert & Co, Pall Mall, London, with single-edged blade with clipped point, blade length 76cm, etched with 'VR' cypher and finely detailed foliate swags and branches, gilt cast brass cruciform crossguard with central device of crossed baton and sabre within a wreathed border, ivory plate grips with gilt brass fittings, with brass scabbard with twin suspension rings. Note: a non-transferrable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item.
