LOT 1200
An 18th century and later walnut longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 12-inch square brass dial with matt centre, subsidiary seconds, date aperture and applied plaque inscribed 'Thomas Moore IPSWICH', the chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes, cornered with gilt urn and foliate scroll spandrels, the hood with moulded pediment, glazed door and turned columns, the crossbanded trunk with arched door, on a plain base and plinth, height 218cm (alterations and restoration), with pendulum and two later brass weights. Note: Thomas Moore Senior and Junior are recorded Suffolk clockmakers working in Ipswich from 1711 to 1762.
