A Chinese flambé glazed rectangular pear shaped hu vase, mark of Guangxu and probably of the period, the body covered in a rich sang-de-boeuf streaked glaze with mottled purple and blue, thinning to a light beige at the rim, tubular handles and moulded channels of the neck, each side with moulded peach shaped panel, incised six-character mark to base, height 31cm (minor glaze loss/chips around footrim). Provenance: from the estate of the late Nigel Pollitzer, adopted son of multimillionaire George Pollitzer and his wife Esme and former friend of Sarah, Duchess of York.
