A KPM Berlin porcelain rectangular plaque, late 19th century, painted after Paul Delaroche with The Christian Martyr, depicting a drowned woman floating in water, a halo like ring drifting above her head, impressed 'KPM' and sceptre mark to reverse with incised numerals, dimensions of plaque 25cm by 19cm, held within a pierced gilt Florentine frame with applied William Whiteley Fine Art Department paper label. Note: at the time, the original painting by the artist Delaroche was hailed as the French equivalent to Millais's Ophelia.
