LOT 1180
A George III mahogany bracket clock with eight day twin fusee movement striking on a bell, the backplate with all-over foliate engraved decoration, the 7-inch brass breakarch dial with silvered strike/silent indicator to arch above a silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes, framing a matt centre with mock pendulum aperture, date aperture and silvered arch, inscribed 'James Milne Montrose', the case with bell top and brass carry handle above glazed doors, with pierced gilt brass foliate fret panels to sides, on a moulded rectangular base and bracket feet, height 53cm, with pendulum and winder. Note: James Milne is a recorded Scottish clockmaker working in Montrose circa 1784.
