Poem by ‘C.D.’ titled ‘To the Concealed Author of this Excellent Poem’, and a poem by H.B. ‘To the Unknown Author of the Incomparable Poem, Faction Display’d’, and verso that ‘To the Reader’. (Browning and spotting throughout, ink annotation to lower margins.) Original wrappers (lacking lower wrapper, later ink annotation to upper wrapper). Note: Shippen was an English Jacobite and Tory M.P. who sat in the commons from 1707 until 1743. He also wrote the poem ‘Moderation Display’d’, published in 1705, in the propaganda war between the Tories and the Whigs. – And two manuscript documents (a will from 1677, and a 16th century deed in Latin, and several loose leaves) (3).
