CLASSICS. – William MELMOTH (translator). The Letters of Pliny the Consul: With Occasional Remarks. London: R. Dodsley, 1747. 2 vols., 8vo (203 x 122mm.) Half titles, titles in red and black with engraved vignettes, 4pp. ‘Index’ to rear. (Marginal browning to preliminaries and rear leaves.) Contemporary calf, red morocco lettering pieces to the spines (extremities rubbed, some loss to lettering piece of volume I, pencil annotations to pastedowns). Provenance: Jacob Camber (ink name inscribed to front-free endpapers); H.L. Hobart (bookplate to front pastedowns) (2).
