MYCOLOGY. – Robert HOGG and George W. JOHNSON. A Selection of the Eatable Funguses of Great Britain. London: Journal of Horticulture & Cottage Gardener Office, [1866.] First edition, 8vo (221 x 136mm.) 25 colour lithographed plates with tissue-guards. (Spotting to frontispiece and preliminaries, occasionally within, browning.) Original red cloth, gilt decoration and lettering to upper cover, t.e.g. (staining to upper cover, wear to spine ends). Provenance: Peter Herbert, late owner of Gravetye Manor (bookplate to front pastedown). – And a further two volumes (M.J. Berkeley’s ‘Outlines of British Fungology’, 1860, 8vo, and W. Hamilton Gibson’s ‘Our Edible Toadstools and Mushrooms’, 1895, 8vo) (3).
