A pair of Chinese armorial export porcelain circular saucer dishes, Yongzheng period, each painted and gilt with the arms of the Frederick family, Baronets of Westminster, within rouge de fer borders, diameter 22.3cm. Note: Sir John Frederick, who was created a Baronet in June 1723, was born in March 1678 and with a number of others was an early promoter of the South Sea Company. A similarly decorated dish is illustrated and discussed on page 202 of 'Chinese Armorial Porcelain' by David Sanctury Howard. Provenance: commissioned by Sir John Frederick (b.1678), and thence by family descent.
