LOT 1324
A late 19th/early 20th century marine chronometer, the two day chain fusee movement with maintaining power, bimetallic compensated balance and gilt brass dust cover, the 3¾-inch silvered dial with black Roman hour numerals and subsidiary state of wind and seconds dials, inscribed 'A. Johannsen 149 Minories London No.1445', housed in a brass bowl hung in gimbals, the brass mounted mahogany three tier case with recessed carry handles, height 18cm. Note: Asmus Johannsen is a recorded chronometer maker to the Admiralty, Indian Government and Royal Navies of Italy, Spain and Portugal, working from his Minories premises between 1872 and 1917.
