A late 19th century French lacquered brass gorge cased grande sonnerie carriage clock by Richard & Cie, with eight day movement striking and repeating on two gongs, the backplate with stamped maker's mark and numbered '748', the white enamelled dial with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes, the gorge case with swing handle and bevelled glass panels, the underside with three position setting lever for 'Hours and Quarters', 'Silent' and 'Quarters Only', height 18.3cm.
