Folio (397 x 234mm.) 50 engraved double-page or folding maps, 8 engraved plates of coins, numerous engraved and woodcut illustrations in the text, including ‘Stonehenge’, index and appendix to rear. (Title, dedication and 2 leaves of ‘Preface’ supplied in facsimile, engraved portrait and a2-b1-b2 with paper repair along the fore-edge margin, minor spotting to ‘Lincolnshire’ and ‘North Riding of Yorkshire’, minor marginal chipping to a few maps.) Late 20th century brown half calf over marbled paper-covered boards, red morocco lettering piece to the spine (endpapers replaced).
