Zheng Guogu (born 1970) - 'Year Two Thousand, another Two Thousand Years to Rust', 1999-2007, a set of twenty-three handmade and etched bottles and cans in steel, brass and copper, each signed and dated '1999-2007' to underside, heights ranging from 10.5cm to 40cm. Note: Zheng Guogu is a Chinese postmodern artist based in Yangjiang in the Guangdong Province of China, one of three artists forming the artist collective known as the Yangjiang Group. He graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1992 and was the winner of the prestigious 2006 Chinese Contemporary Art Award. A similar set of 23 bottles was sold at Phillips de Pury Co, London, Lot 111, for a hammer price of £30,000 on 18th October 2008. More recently a set of 23 was sold at China Guardian Auctions Co Ltd, Beijing, Lot 1809, for a hammer price of £45,853 on 3rd June 2019. Another set of 23 sold at Poly International Auction Co Ltd, Beijing, Lot 6820, for a hammer price of £42,080 on 4th June 2016, and a set of 12 sold at China Guardian Auctions Co Ltd, Beijing, Lot 1787, for a hammer price of £25,893 on 29th November 2021.
