An album containing a collection of approximately 70 items of ephemera, all 19th century, including a leaf signed by the engineer Robert Stephenson, Fenwick, Matthew Wheatley and others; a printed Imperial Decree from Napoleon dated 1812; a Kate Greenaway calendar for 1884; a Cunard Line advertisement; a group of four illustrated letters from B. de Grandmaison to Mrs Holland of Sussex Square, London in 1899; a small handbill promoting Godard's Grand [Balloon] Ascent at the Cremorne Gardens, London circa 1864; theatre programmes; a State of Alabama summons to Jacob Gray to appear in court in the trial of a slave named Jordan dated 1852; and an advert for Macdonald Artificial Teeth.
