EPHEMERA. An album containing a collection of approximately 76 items of ephemera, all 19th century, including an autograph letter signed (a.l.s.) by John Mortimer (1782-1856), surgeon on HMS Africa at the Battle of Trafalgar and subsequently in charge of Haslar Hospital; a stereoscopic viewing card of M. Emillie Blondin's tight rope crossing of Niagara Falls in 1859; Part 2 of Thackeray's 'The Virginians' 1st December 1857; an 1836 invitation to Vauxhall celebrating the King's birthday; theatre programmes; an advertising leaf for 'Trupp & Maberly' showing two carriages; a letterhead for 'St Augustine's Cadet Band' with photographic banner dated 1896; and a 'Straker's General Printing Works' advert circa 1858.
