TEFLER, James. Border Ballads, and Other Miscellaneous Pieces. Jedburgh: for the Author, 1824. (Browning, spotting, 1 quire loosening.) [Bound with:] William CAESAR. Poems in the Scottish Dialect. Dumfries: C. Munroe, 1817. (Spotting, occasionally heavy.) 12mo (139 x 85mm.) Near contemporary half calf (extremities rubbed, spine heavily). Note: scarce. Tefler was a shepherd who educated himself to become a teacher. He became friends with James Hogg, the 'Ettrick Shepherd', also self-educated, to whom this book is dedicated.
