LOT 1270
A George III walnut longcase clock, the three train eight day movement chiming quarters on a nest of eight bells and striking on a gong, the 12-inch brass breakarch dial with rolling moon to arch above a silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes, 'Chime Silent' lever selection at 9 o'clock and '4 bells 8 bells' lever selection at 3 o'clock, framing a silvered centre with subsidiary seconds and engraved foliate scrolls and signed 'John Farley London', all cornered with cast and pierced gilt foliate spandrels, the hood with pagoda top and brass ball and spire finials above a moulded arch pediment, glazed door and turned columns, the case with arched trunk door, on a plain base and plinth, height 231cm, with pendulum and three matched weights (alterations and restoration). Note: John Farley is a recorded London clockmaker working in Southwark circa 1775.
