LOT 1263
An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 14-inch painted breakarch dial with rolling moon to arch above Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dials, inscribed 'Jas Coates Stourbridge', all cornered with four figural spandrels representing Europe, America, Asia and Africa, the hood with swan neck pediment above a glazed door and reeded square columns, the trunk door with crescent surmount above a plain base, height 229cm, with pendulum and two weights (some faults). Note: James Coates is a recorded Worcestershire clockmaker working in Stourbridge from 1805 until his death in 1812.
