An early Victorian mahogany mantel timepiece with eight day single fusee movement, the 6-inch circular painted dial with black Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'W. Furse Brighton', the arched case with applied rosette and foliate mouldings above a pair of brass foliate and loose ring handles, the front with brass inlaid decoration, on a plinth base and bun feet, height 32cm, with pendulum, winding key and case keys. Note: William Furse is a recorded Brighton clockmaker, born in 1812 and working between 1839 and 1862.
