A Japanese mixed-metal inlaid bronze vase, Meiji period, of slender baluster form with open-mouthed lion mask handles, the body decorated with a pair of opposing panels, one decorated with three birds on a branch with crescent moon and clouds beyond, the other with butterflies and bearded barley, on an outswept circular foot with inlaid foliate designs and pierced apron, height 32.7cm (drilled hole to base).
