A Japanese carved boxwood monkey and peaches tonkotsu (tobacco box and cover) by Ikko, Meiji period, of domed oval form, the exterior finely carved in relief with a troop of monkeys gathering peaches, inlaid in stained green ivory, mother-of-pearl and jade with peaches and leaves, incised signature of Ikko to base, height 7cm. Note: a non-transferrable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item.
