A Gien faience rectangular box and cover with removable pierced liner, late 19th century, painted to the exterior with mythical grotesques within a yellow ground geometric border, relief moulded with a pseudo riveted blue strap, the domed cover with foliate handle, the inner liner with twenty-four pierced holes, brown printed factory mark to base, 18.5cm by 12.5cm.
