LOT 1277
A mid-18th century green and gilt chinoiserie japanned longcase clock with eight day three train movement chiming quarters on a nest of eight bells and striking hours on a larger bell, the 12-inch brass breakarch dial with silvered boss to arch, inscribed 'Sam Bradley Worcester', above a silvered chapter ring framing a matt centre with silvered subsidiary seconds and date aperture, all cornered with cast and pierced gilt spandrels, the case with all-over gilt chinoiserie decoration, the hood with caddy top and three giltwood ball finials, above a glazed arched door and columns, the arched trunk door on a moulded plinth base and bun feet, height 264cm, with pendulum and three brass cased weights. Note: Samuel Bradley is a recorded clockmaker working in Worcester from 1728 until his death in 1783.
