LOT 1228
A late 19th century French ormolu and onyx mantel clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the white enamelled dial with blue Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes, the onyx pedestal case on foliate toupie feet, surmounted with a free-standing ormolu figure of a seated classical maiden holding an oil lamp, signed 'Dumaige', total height 49.4cm (lacking pendulum). Note: Etienne-Henry Dumaige (1830-1888) was a 19th century French sculptor, who exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1863 to 1886. He was a pupil of Augustin Alexandre Dumont and Jean-Jacques Feuchère.
