LOT 1150
An Omega 1953 MoD Royal Air Force issue pilot's wristwatch, circa 1953, the signed jewelled 283 caliber movement numbered '12802228', with dust cover, the signed black tritium dial with white Arabic hour numerals, MoD arrow and luminous hands, the signed inner case back numbered '2777-1', the case back detailed with large MoD arrow above '6645 101000', '68/542' and '7192/53', case diameter 3.6cm, with black NATO strap. Note: this 1953 Omega wristwatch was part of an exclusive, one year order of 5900 from the British Royal Air Force for their RAF pilots. They were originally made with 'thin arrow' radium dials but these proved to be dangerously radioactive when stock-piled, so the MoD recalled them and used the safer tritium (hence the 'T' in the circle) 'fat arrow' dials.
