A Chinese doucai porcelain bowl, mark of Chenghua but Qing dynasty, of steep-sided circular form, the exterior with four foliate roundels separated by tendril scrolls, underglaze blue six-character mark within double ring to base, height 6cm, diameter 11.6cm (two hairlines to rim). Provenance: from the private collection of David Armitage, former conservator to the Department of Eastern Art at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, between 1970 and 1999.
